Ekeoha-Aba Shopping Centre: Aba South Traditional Rulers Endorse Reconstruction, Offer Royal Blessings
In a show of cultural affirmation and communal support, the traditional rulers of Aba South, operating under the prestigious Aba-la-Ohazu traditional authority, have formally endorsed the ongoing reconstruction of the iconic Ekeoha-Aba Shopping Centre. In keeping with time-honoured tradition, the royal fathers performed solemn rites to bless the project and invoke divine favour for its successful completion.
The royal delegation visited the market on Friday, defying inclement weather to carry out the sacred assignment. The entourage included prominent monarchs such as HRM Eze E. O. I. Ugwuzor (Chairman, Aba South Traditional Rulers Council), HRM Eze China Onyebuchi, HRH Eze B. C. Ogbonna, HRM Eze Sir Sunday Emejiaka, HRM Eze Ibe Enyoazu, HRM Eze Victor Ukaegbu Asonye, and HRM Eze M. I. E. Ugbor. United in purpose and spirit, they praised the bold vision of Governor Alex Otti in initiating what they described as a long-overdue transformation of the commercial heart of Aba.
Beyond the symbolic pouring of libations and invocation of ancestral blessings, the royal fathers prayed earnestly for peace, prosperity, and the smooth execution of the project. They also offered prayers for the Governor, expressing goodwill and best wishes for his continued leadership and second term aspirations.
Welcoming the esteemed traditional rulers to the site, Comrade Emeka Okeke, Chairman of the Ekeoha Market, expressed heartfelt appreciation for their visit. He commended them for their consistent moral guidance and fatherly support, describing their presence as deeply encouraging to the trader community.
Speaking during the event, the Abia State Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Hon Kingsley Nwokocha, acknowledged the significance of the occasion and appealed to traders to give their full cooperation to the developers. He thanked the royal fathers for rallying behind the project and standing with the government’s vision for economic revitalisation.
Engr Chinedu Onyeizu, Chairman of Rhino Homes & Properties Ltd, the government-approved concessionaire, also addressed the crowd. He assured all stakeholders that the project was on track and would be delivered on schedule. He described the reconstruction as a world-class commercial hub, promising modern shops fitted with state-of-the-art facilities that reflect global standards of infrastructure and convenience.
The colourful event drew a mammoth crowd of traders, residents, and onlookers, all eager to witness this momentous cultural endorsement. For many, the traditional rulers’ involvement is a rare and powerful gesture, adding moral weight and spiritual significance to the ongoing reconstruction.
During their inspection of the site, the monarchs expressed delight at the quality and pace of work. They hailed the construction as unprecedented in the region, describing it as the first of its kind in terms of design and ambition.
With royal blessings now poured and the foundation spiritually fortified, the Ekeoha-Aba Shopping Centre enters a new phase, one driven by modern vision and rooted in age-old traditions.
